Dr Quazi Ashfaq Ahmad has developed keen interest in Islamic philosophy
and will evaluate works submitted by reserachers on fundamentals, spirituality
and philosophy of Islam.
Dr. Javed Jamil:
Dr Javed Jamil is a medical graduate from renowned King George Medical College, Lucknow in India. Dr Jamil has been recognized for his extensive work on Islam over past 25 years. He has authored over a dozen books such as:
The Essence of the Divine Verses is a humble attempt to understand the message and the system propagated by the Quran, particularly with its unparalleled relevance in the context of the present and the future world. 448 page mammoth work has been foreworded by Saiyid Hamid, Former Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University.
Islam and Family Planning. The book discussed the subject of Family Welfare from the point of view of Islamic principles and proposed an alternative Indo-Islamic Model consistent with Islamic teachings and Indian cultural values.
Islamic Model for Control of AIDS at the request of Prof. Lalit Mohan Nath, then Director, AIIMS, New Delhi who also foreworded the book. The book gave a comprehensive solution for control of AIDS based on the religious principles of Islam. The book gave a new turn to the subject.

MODERATOR:
Zahid Jamil is a critical thinker who has invested his time and effort in understanding of many Islamic and Muslim issues over past few years. A post graduate in engineering from world renowned Indian Institute of Technology, Zahid Jamil has worked in engineering and finance industries over past 30 years. Zahid has been living in Sydney, Australia for 18 years and has been involved in several social organizations locally.
Zahid Jamil has a desire of bringing Muslim scholars in various fields to a platform to develop a fresh understanding of Islam in 21st century. His ambition is to formulate a strategy which would help Muslims in rebuilding themselves on all fronts so as to become an equal partner with other communities in their contribution to the development of the modern world. Eventually Muslims should again lead the world by example. The examplary Muslims will not only be the leaders in the fields of their specialization but will also be the finest example of character, indicative of their faith.
IFER is an attempt not only to inspire Muslims to start doing the right things by themselves but also to clarify their doubts about their religion. IFER will also attempt to bring Muslim scholars and Muslim ideological groups together who generally tend to form one set of opinion and are not willing to listen to or tolerate other opinions. Intra-faith dialogue is extremely important.
This platform is not for discussing international politics. Lot of energies are invested in confronting the current political issues in these difficult times and some ideological groups have successfully brainwashed many young Muslims in trying to take a revenge through means which are totally forbidden in Islam. The aim of IFER is to inspire ordinary Muslims to have a clear vision of Islamic teaching, provide them the methodology to implement Muslim way of life and develop confidence in them to build themselves through education and hard work.
I do not consider myself an Islamic scholar by any measure but have
firm opinion that Allah has given the human mind ability to comprehend
Quran and an individual can draw his/her own conclusion by seriously studying
and contemplating the holy verses. This enables me to express an opinion
on certain issues after studying the relevant Quranic verses on a given
topic.
My role is mainly to manage the affairs of IFER. The key role will be
to become a mediator between the researchers, the scholars and the readers.
As operations of IFER grow, it will be seeking more individuals who can
act as moderators. A moderator for each area may be useful such as a moderator
for belief system, another for scientific issues, another for economics
and social sciences etc.
IFER also intends to run projects or cooperate with organisations in various countries to promote education among socially backward and poor sections of Muslim society. One such attempt has begun in the city of Saharanpur in India by Jamia Millia professional society a body of alumni of Delhi based university Jamia Millia Islamia. This body is now running evening tutoring classes for poor Muslim students as well as running campaigns amongst socially backward Muslims to send their children to schools and not to withdraw them in junior classes.
IFER also intends to run a project amongst Muslim youth in Sydney in helping them to improve their performance in school so as to improve their chances of admission in university courses.
Muslim masses need new form of leadership which I believe will come from our better educated and socially sensitive volunteers and Muslim researches and scholars in various fields and not from our kings, presidents and prime Ministers. Once these volunteers are able to bring about this change at the root of the Muslim societies and transform the society, they will be able to produce leadership which will equal the khalifas of the golden age of Islam, Inshallah.
